Royal Wolf New Zealand has helped sponsor a trip of up and coming athletics champion Mackenzie Millen to Australia where she will represent New Zealand.
The Papakura 12-year-old is in Adelaide this week at the Pacific School Games where she is competing against other school aged students from 15 countries.
Mackenzie has a range of sporting achievements under her belt already, competing both nationally and internationally. Early this year, she swept the field at the Counties Manukau Athletics Championships winning gold in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and long jump for 11-year-old girls.
Royal Wolf Executive General Manager, Paul Creighton, says it’s sometimes difficult for parents to fund their children’s sporting interests, especially when they reach a top tier level.
“Our donation is just a small way of helping her further her career as an international athlete,” he says.
“It’s amazing to see the talent in our local community and we wish Mackenzie the best of luck at the Games and in the future. We’re sure she’ll do the Silver Fern proud.”
