The challenge:
Major transformation in the centre of Invercargill ramped up after a pause during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Royal Wolf was tasked with providing a temporary containerised solution to ensure members of the public would be kept safe from demolition activity and help to limit disruption on site.
The solution:
Using 24 Royal Wolf containers, double stacked to just over 5m high, a wall was constructed around a corner of the block.
Similar to Royal Wolf’s pedestrian hoardings, which are used extensively around construction sites, the robust and strong container wall was an efficient solution to help protect pedestrians and traffic from the demolition activity.
The result:
With the demolition and construction projects having around 150 workers on site by the end of the year, and between 300 and 400 in the first three months of 2021, it is a busy and active site.
As well as the container wall ensuring the least possible disruption to traffic, pedestrians, and surrounding businesses, it also helps to keep workers safe and allows them to get on and get the job done efficiently.
