Nathaniel Engels knows his buses – especially the many different models that have run routes across the Auckland region over the years.
ARA Heritage Buses – the acronym stands for Auckland Regional Authority – is committed to restoring the legacy of Auckland buses.
“If it served in Auckland, it deserves to be celebrated for doing so,” says Nathaniel. “From the yellow and cream buses of the 80s, through to the beige and black in Birkenhead and the cream and maroon in Howick, no model is off the cards.”
Founded in 2020, the organisation has expanded significantly and accumulated a large amount of valuable spare parts which require a safe and secure storage solution.
“That’s where Royal Wolf come in,” says Nathaniel.
Silverdale Branch Manager, Callum Diprose, worked with ARA to supply a 20-foot container to store the parts safely and securely.
“The container meets the organisation’s needs perfectly and enables us to expand further in the future, especially now that we’re repatriating other buses from outside the Auckland region.
“It means we can keep doing our work to rekindle the relationship many people have had with the humble bus over the years – and to inspire them to use public transport more in the future.”
Containers meet community needs
Royal Wolf partners with a wide range of community and not-for-profit organisations to supply containers to help them continue to do the valuable work they do locally.
“I thought I knew a lot about containers, and I do, but Nathaniel’s knowledge of buses is next level,” says Callum.
“Nathaniel and his team at ARA are real characters and doing a very unique and worthwhile job of restoring an important part of Auckland’s history. We wanted to help them out by supplying a storage container to ensure they can carry on do that work.”
