Our Place Tauranga – Container City 2.0

Back in 2018, Royal Wolf worked with Little Big Events and Tauranga City Council to create a functional, yet stylish entertainment-meets-community space made up of more than 30 containers.

Now, Our Place Tauranga, a community based social enterprise, event space, and hub for local hospitality and retail outlets, has been granted a two-year extension.

To celebrate, “Container City” as it was nicknamed, has got a spruce up with a fresh new look and will be hosting a Relaunch Party at Our Place Tauranga on Saturday September 26 from 10am to 2pm.

The family-friendly day will include live music, free face-painting, photobooths, tasty street food, workshops and more.

The containers Royal Wolf supplied, made up of a range of openside, hoardings and standard containers, were easily adapted enabling each tenant to modify the spaces to suit their specific needs.

Paul Creighton, Royal Wolf Executive General Manager, says containers are ideal for these types of projects due to being such a diverse and adaptable product to work with.

“The highly portable nature is a key part of a containers appeal, and they can be adapted and fitted out to suit a tenant’s individual needs, whether it’s for a café, a retail outlet or an entertainment space.

“It’s great to see that this highly unique space has helped reinvigorate the central city and allows businesses to connect with others in the community in a social environment,” he says.

Similar projects Royal Wolf has been involved in include the Underground Market on Wellington’s waterfront, the Queens Wharf retail and food village in Auckland and Christchurch’s post-earthquake Re:START mall.
