Chris joined the team at Royal Wolf in 2016 after returning home from a stint in Perth, where he worked in the oil and gas industry. Before his move abroad, Chris worked for the Ports of Auckland for 22 years. As our Forklift Operator, he spends his days loading and unloading containers for repairs or modifications. Chris’s day is dictated by how many containers come in and out the door — but as he works at the biggest Royal Wolf branch in New Zealand, the Auckland site, his days can get quite busy. Chris loves collaborating with his team and working quickly to keep customers happy.
“What I love about my job is seeing a container receive a full makeover, so it leaves the yard looking like a million bucks. Everyone chips in with the various skills to make the container available for dispatch ASAP, including cleaning, spray painting and modifications. It’s great seeing everyone come together as a team to produce a quality product in the quickest possible time, says Chris.”
Although Chris doesn’t deal with customers one-on-one, he’s met plenty of interesting people since he started at Royal Wolf, and there’s a few that stand out.
“Our customers are from all walks of life; we even get an odd celebrity. We had ex NRL legend Ruben Wiki come in, and also work with a major film production company here in Auckland called Cricket Hop Productions. They use numerous Royal Wolf containers on site. In fact, they used some of our containers in a recent shark attack film called The Meg, which starred Jason Statham and Cliff Curtis. The team at Cricket Hop Productions even built a man-made lake to shoot the underwater scenes in, he said.”

Chris is a self-confessed ‘petrol head’. He loves Holdens, Harleys, 4WDs — and basically anything else with a motor, so it comes as no surprise that he spends his days driving forklifts. When he’s not at work, Chris loves watching rugby league. Chris supports the Warriors and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
