Project: Eden Green

Executive summary: Eden Green is a premium apartment building that has been developed at the foot of Mount Eden. The apartments are situated on the corner of Normanby Road and Edwin Street, an area buzzing with pedestrians from the surrounding apartments, businesses and schools.

The challenge
Eden Green is located on a busy intersection on the corner of Normanby Road and Edwin Street. It is a high foot-traffic area so during construction it was crucial the existing footpath was not obstructed, and pedestrians were provided with a safe walkway as the development took shape.
The solution
A container walkway made up of four 20-foot hoarding containers was set up on the footpath along Normanby Rd.Royal Wolf’s patented hoarding design provides both overhead and side protection from construction work, while the cut outs on the road side of the container provide a sense of space and create the effect of a covered footpath.
The result
The hoardings allowed construction at Eden Green, which included demolishing the existing structures to clear the site and excavate an underground carpark, to progress quickly and efficiently all while ensuring the safety of those passing by on foot. The development of the 5-level apartment building, containing 100 apartments and retail space, has not interrupted the flow of foot-traffic in the area, offering overhead protection to pedestrians.
